Varazdin County promotes sustainable mobility in Brussels

On October 13th Varaždin County, together with partners in “Partnership for sustainable mobility”, as a part of “Open Days” conference in Brussels, was one of the organisers of “Drive me green” panel discussion. The panel consisted of good practice examples presentations of eco transport of goods and passengers in regions all across Europe.

ICx on test runs

Test running of an ICx trainset on the public rail network began on September 25, Siemens has announced.

In May 2011 Deutsche Bahn signed a framework agreement for up to 300 ICx trainsets, with an initial order for 130 to replace its locomotive-hauled inter-city fleet. Entry into service is planned for late 2017.

Cities can turn to ten sources of funding for sustainable urban mobility:

The biggest source is the European Structural and Investment Funds. These are the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund. New recuperation upgrade in London Underground

Transport for London has announced that the ‘world first’ installation of Alstom’s Harmonic & Energy Saving Optimiser inverting substation energy recovery technology on a metro line has proved successful.

As well as feeding energy regenerated by braking trains back into the traction power supply, HESOP can return power to the grid when it not required by accelerating trains.
