Work begins on modernising Sofia Central Railway Station

The modernisation of the Central Railway Station in Sofia has been launched with an official ceremony Thursday, announced the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications (MTITC).  “The station was built more than 40 years ago and ever since, no substantial overhaul has been done,” said Deputy Minister Petar Kirov.

Transport tenders promised although state coffers running low

Transport Minister Antonín Prachař has pledged to put in motion construction tenders for around 54 billion crowns this year. Most of that work, to the tune of 38 billion crowns, will be related to rail infrastructure developments.

Studies for Slovenian rail track upgrade get a boost from EU grant

The European Union will co-finance with EUR 1.7 million from the TEN-T Programme a series of dedicated studies aimed at completing the execution design for upgrading a section of double track rail in Slovenia which, when built, will contribute to the realisation of the “Railway axis Lyon-Trieste-Divaca/Koper-Divaca-Ljubljana-Budapest-Ukrainian border” (TEN-T Priority Project 6).
