Increased capacity of the railway line
Banedanmark has finished a DKK 750 million upgrade to the railway between Vamdrup and Vojens.
The project, which began in 2014, involved the construction of a new 20-kilometre line, removing a significant bottleneck on the rail freight corridor linking Sweden and Germany.
As well as double-tracking, the existing line speed has been increased to 160 km/h. Hans Christian Schmidt, transport and construction minister: “The previous single track between Vamdrup and Vojens has for several years been a bottleneck. “It has bothered both passengers and businesses in the area and have been an impediment for local development.â€Â Other works included renewals at Vamdrup and Vojens stations and the construction of two new bridges.
