Czech Railways purchase 14 EMUs from Å koda Transportation

Czech Railways (ČD) and Škoda Transportation signed a CZK 2.6 billion (EUR 96 million) contract for the supply of 14 electric multiple-units, based on the RegioPanter concept line. The units will be manufactured between 2015 and 2016 and will be operated on long-distance routes. The acquisition of new EMUs is related to the preparation for the opening of the long-distance passenger rail services market and the phasing out of obsolete express trains and coaches from the former GDR.
