Commission for Railways approved the continuation of financing the purchase of new trains for HŽPP

Session of the Commission for the Railways, which was chaired by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, was held on Friday at the government headquarters. After the session, the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Siniša Hajdas Dončić said that the Commission confirmed and approved the continuation of financing the purchase of new trains for HŽPP.

“The contract consists construction of 44 trains, and so far has been solved financing for 21 trains. Now is resolved financing for the remaining 23 trains, “said the Minister. He added that the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) is to ensure long-term loan without a State guarantee, because the charge of passenger transport through negotiations with the European Commission proved that the long term can not independently repay loans. He stressed that all trains will be built by Croatian consortium led by Končar.
