Serbian Railways starts modernisation with machinery sent by Russian Railways

On 7 May 2014, a Russian Railways’ train loaded with construction machinery arrived at Ruma station in Serbia.

The equipment is being supplied under a contract between RZD International Railways LLC, a subsidiary of Russian Railways which implements infrastructure projects abroad for the holding company, and Serbian Railways in order to carry out construction work on railway infrastructure and the supply of diesel trains.

Railway R&D statistics

Analyses of 2008 figures at EU level, show transport sector as the largest industrial R&D investor, with an investment volume of EUR 43.6 billion. Out of the amount, only  EUR 1.2 billion represent R&D investment in the railway sector.
