Transport projects selected for €13,1bn of European co-funding

‘Flagship initiatives’ including the Rail Baltica standard gauge line, the Brenner base tunnel and the Fehmarn Belt fixed link are amongst the 276 transport projects which the European Commission has selected to receive €13,1bn of Connecting Europe Facility funding under the September 2014 call for proposals. Other projects selected include the Caland Bridge in Rotterdam, the Iron Rhine and improvements to cross-border links between Groningen and Bremen.

Local train operator in Denmark orders Alstom trains

North Jylland local train operator Nordjyske Jernbane has awarded Alstom a €45m contract to supply 13 Coradia Lint regional diesel multiple-units to support an expansion of services from autumn 2017.

The 140 km/h two-car DMUs will have 125 seats and space for up to 135 standing passengers.

Newag delivers first IMPULS trains to Mazowieckie Railways

Mazowieckie Railways has put into operation on War­szawa –Skier­nie­wice route the first Impuls trains delivered by Newag.

The 45WE EMUs have a seating capa­city of 206 and stan­ding capa­city of 325. The vehicles are equipped with air-conditioning, Wi-Fi access, power soc­kets, a pas­sen­ger infor­ma­tion sys­tem and inter­com.

The new beast of the railways – InterPanter

The latest InterPanter electrical unit from Å koda Vagonka was officially given its name on the test circuit in Velim today. Last year, Czech Railways ordered a total of 14 of these modern trains designed for inter-regional and long-distance transport – ten five-car and four three-car electric units.
