Rail passenger journeys reached a record high in UK

The number of passenger journeys on franchised rail services in Great Britain reached 1.654 billion in 2014-15, according to the Passenger Rail Usage report published by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).

Wien places order for 119 trams

Wien transport authority Wiener Linien has formally awarded Bombardier Transportation a €431m contract to supply 119 Flexity trams with an option for 37 more, the manufacturer announced on June 4.

The firm contract includes 24 years of maintenance support under Bombardier’s FlexCare programme.

Norway to reform railway sector

Norwegian government presented the white paper “On the right track. Reform of the railway sector” to the Norwegian Parliament, Stortinget. The government and its co-operating political partners are in agreement on the main elements of the white paper.
