Skoda Transportation has obtained type-approval for the ForCity Plus tramways which will operate in Bratislava (Slovakia). Last year the company signed two contracts worth EUR 76 million to supply 15 bi-directional Type 30T trams and 15 unidirectional Type 29T trams.
The City of Stockholm has been awarded the 2015 INTERMODES prize for its work on integrating all transport modes for the well-being of its citizens and tourists.
Stockholm was awarded for its 2030 City Plan, which includes developing hubs to connect urban areas to the city centre, making transport more frequent to reduce waiting times and creating a user-friendly network.
Last year was as a record in terms of both production and sales, Škoda Transportation reports. Sales in 2014 were up more than 12% on the previous year to KC16·4bn, with net profit rising from KC1·75bn to KC2·27bn.
TransContainer (RU), ContainerTrans Scandinavia (FI) and Kedentransservice (KZ) have launched a new blocktrain service to transport export goods from Finland to China.
The first block train with the industrial production went from Central Finland on May 20, and arrived at the destination in western China on 31 May. Time en route is 11 days. The 6849 km long route crosses Finland, Russia, Kazakhstan and China.
